Moving into Memorial Day weekend

Memorial Day is the time to pay tribute too those serving our country. I always think its important to remember those who are still living as well as those who are no longer with us. I dont think there is a braver thing one can do, then stand up and fight for their country. I find it horrible and ironic that we have to fight for peace.

I have two brothers, whom I am severly proud of, who served in the Marines. Semper Fi. I also have friends and family serving in Iraq right now. I worry for them every day and hope they safely come home soon to their families and friends who miss them dearly.

I also have family who are retired from the military. We teach our children to be proud of their Papa and to always have respect for the service he carried out in the military. Not only is he a family elder, but also, a retired knight.

In my need to turn everything into fantasy, I see all of these people as modern day knights in shining armor. It is a thin veil to romanticise what war really is. Ugly. There is nothing beautiful about what war does to people, civilizations or humanity. But the hope that we are making a positive difference in the lives of people who need to be uplifted, is there. To not let evil and the ugliness of those who only wish to destroy, win. From that perspective, I feel we are all warriors then.
We all need to fight for peace so that the beauty in life is not lost.
Peace.

I got tagged!

This is the first time I've been tagged... ever, so without further ado:

1. I'm only 4'11. (Booster seat laws cut off at 4'9, sad, isnt it?? DOH!)

2. My favorite flowers are roses.

3. My favorite birds are hummingbirds.

4. I love archery.

5. I love crocheting and knitting. (I think I was a spider in a previous life. : ))

6. I clean my house for story inspiration.

7. I love being in my garden.

8. I love the power behind a good storm.

The Rules:
Here are the rules according to whomever likes to make up rules (not me):
1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
3. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. (All's fair in Lurv and bloggin')
4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
Here are the people I've tagged:
I'm tagging you whether you've got a blog or not.
If you don't you can post your answers on your myspace or yahoo group, or even your website.
OR, you can just tag eight more people! (Include your web address in your email to them so they can see your wonderful site.)
Keep the meme's rolling. :)
